The Kowloon Walled City Park is now a beautiful garden designed as a Jiangnan (江南) garden of the early Qing dynasty. featuring preserved artefacts from the former Kowloon Walled City a Chinese garrison which became a lawless enclave for fugitives and criminal gangs through the 20th century.

Remnants of the South Gate 南门怀古

The original site of South Gate (南門) has been designated as a declared monument and all related relics unearthed have been preserved. Flagstone pavement, cornerstones of the buildings, and a drain were discovered

Two granite plaques with Chinese characters for "South Gate" and "Kowloon Walled City" were unearthed at the site of the original South Gate when the Walled City was torn down in 1994.

Located at the South Gate of the Kowloon Walled City Park, the Outdoor Display Area showcases a shadow wall and a model of the Walled City. The side of the shadow wall facing the South Gate is inscribed with an essay on the Kowloon Walled City Park. On the opposite side, a cross-section of the pre-demolished Walled City is displayed. The bronze model facing the Yamen is a miniature of a building in Walled City before demolition.


The Yamen (衙府)

Is located in the centre of the Park and it is the only remaining old Qing building. It was built in 1847 and its interior was dominated by the offices of the Commodore of the Dapeng Brigade (大鵬協府) and the Kowloon Assistant Military Inspectorate (九龍巡檢司衙署).

Mountain View Pavilion 邀山樓

The Mountain View Pavilion offers a perfect view of the Lion Mountain afar as well as the entire park.

It is a two-storey building resembling a docked boat which offers a perfect view of the Lion Mountain afar as well as the entire park.


Eight Floral Walks

Paths and walks in Kowloon Walled City Park are built for the convenience of sightseeing for diverse scenic beauties in the park. On the basis of the scenic layout of the park, eight walks are built and each named after a plant or flower correspond with its respectively plant or flower planted along, such as bamboos, mangnolia, crape myrtle, banana leaves and the like.
